Four Head-Turning Looks From the 2020 Golden Globes Red Carpet

2020 has only just begun, but it is already off to a daring start, as the celebs who hit the red carpet for the 77th Annual Golden Globes Sunday, January 5th did not hold back. While all the stars came out dressed to impress, there were a select few who truly stole the spotlight and made us believers:

Saoirse RonanLadybird and Little Women megastar Saoirse Ronan is kicking the new decade off to a glamorous start with this beautifully gothic silver-mesh number from Celine. Ronan lit up the red carpet from head to toe, pairing her dress with sparkly heels and eye-popping diamond jewelry from Atelier Swarovski. The dress exudes an air of femininity, thanks in part to the “cowl neck” coupled with a sexy-yet-refined cut that is both sexy and sophisticated. The subtlety of Ronan’s “glowy glam” allows for the dress to do the talking, earning her the prime spot on our coveted list.

Zoey Deutch

Zoey Deutch has sunshine on even the cloudiest of Los Angeles days. Don’t be deceived: What appears to be her dress is in reality a wide-legged jumpsuit from innovative fashion designer Fendi! The puffy sleeves and plunging neckline, paired with an elegant Harry Winston sapphire pendant, gives us major Titanic vibes. As many have noticed, the jewelry she flaunts bears a striking resemblance to that of the famous “Heart of the Ocean” blue diamond necklace from the iconic film. Nonetheless, the boldness in choice here makes this a real stand-out look that has earned its place among iconic red carpet fashion.

Gwyneth Paltrow Never one to shy away from making a fashion statement, Gwyneth Paltrow has long championed the “naked dress” trend, and this year’s Globes was no exception. Though critics will inevitably draw comparisons to bed skirts and shower curtains, this look succeeds at managing to toe the fine line between “too much” and “not enough” with its bare-all elegance. The seemingly effortless pairing of bright, glamorous Bulgari jewelry with this sheer, Bohemian Fendi dress completes a level of couture that most can only hope to aspire at. In addition, the dress’s burnt rust hue breaks with traditional seasonal color schemes, and we give Paltrow bonus points for pulling off a traditionally fall color in the dead of winter.

Margot RobbieConsidering Margot Robbie seems to win at about just about everything in life these days, it only makes sense that this cute, chic Chanel ensemble she donned at the 2020 Golden Globes somehow managed to have pockets. Robbie once again manages to check off all the boxes in terms of “functionally fashionable” style, from her perfectly imperfect waves, to her simplistic, yet stunning glam style, to the intricate detailing on this bustier top. While the white skirt seems like potentially too stark a contrast at first glance, the outfit actually coincides perfectly with her hair, which runs from its dark roots down to cascading, platinum blonde waves. Once again, Margot Robbie stays ahead of the curve in terms of styles and trends, was somewhat off-putting, upon further examination, it became clear that it is in perfect balance with her platinum blonde locks proving that Robbie is not only once again a step ahead of the curve here, but also manages to exude the elegance, class, and style of original fashion icon Coco Chanel herself.
