MISS SWISS® is a revolutionary travel size makeup case for makeup users on the go.  It has custom holders that prevent friction between commonly used makeup products to prevent “purse catastrophes” and comes in five colors.  The case is portable at 7.25 inches long, 4.25 inches wide, 1.25 inches deep, and comes with a shatter-resistant mirror inside.

MISS SWISS, which is manufactured in the USA, has four holders inside a heavy-duty plastic shell that comes in five colors: Princess of Monaco Pink, Silhouette Black, Blue Hydrangea, Fiolet Purple, and Summertime Shandy Yellow. MISS SWISS is 7.25 inches long, 4.25 inches wide, 1.25 inches deep, and comes with a shatter-resistant mirror inside. Created by Ashley Piszek, a 24-year-old entrepreneur from Hatfield, Pa.

Piszek’s vision for MISS SWISS formed after her own “purse catastrophe.” When her makeup was damaged and her purse destroyed while attending a concert, she quickly realized she was not alone. Other makeup cases were too large to fit in a purse or did not allow for proper spacing to prevent harm.

To fund the MISS SWISS idea, Piszek flipped a house in between classes at DeSales University, where she graduated Cum Laude in 2019. As a college student, she entered a “Shark Tank-style” competition hosted by the university, where she took first place with her MISS SWISS concept. Piszek also conducted research studies with makeup users and learned about their issues applying makeup on the go. She designed the MISS SWISS to have holders that pivot so the user can access the base of the makeup while using the wand or brush.

We had the wonderful opportunity to chat with Ashley and learn more information about Miss Swiss.

We love how simple Miss Swiss Cases are. There are 4 main compartments, which makes it so easy to use. Why 4 compartments?

“We surveyed a lot of people and asked how many makeup products do you actually use on the go? Most of them said, 3 or 4. We put our foundation on in the morning and we just wanna apply mascara or eyeliner or touch up lipstick and that’s basically what this product is for. That’s our biggest misconception, people think we’re trying to replace the traditional makeup case that sits on your counter at home, but we’re really on the go to have in your bag, or desk at work to really do those touch ups.

What were some trials you had to overcome during your entrepreneurial journey?

“I have degrees in accounting and marketing. I decided not to go the traditional route. I spent the year engineering cases to fit most round diameter makeup products, and that was really difficult because I don’t have an engineering background. My husband is an engineer. We created around fifty different 3D versions so our makeup doesn’t fall out, super simple, easy, strong, and sturdy. I never thought it would take so much time and work to create a makeup case, but we really worked super hard and engineered our best version.”

What’s the greatest risk you’ve taken?

“My biggest risk was doing this full time. I didn’t have the money to create an injection mold. For our makeup cases, this required two molds, one for the base and the other one for the holders. I actually flipped a 4 bed, 2 bath house to create money for these molds.”

Is flipping houses a hobby?

“I actually never flipped a house before that. It was my senior year of college and I had no idea how I was going to come up with $50,000. I was watching HGTV and one day and it hit me, this is what I can do. I tiled bathrooms, I designed kitchen layouts all these different things. My mom and I worked together with our pink hammers and made all these demos. It was the most fun, but most stressful way to come up with money. It was super rewarding. It was not my skillset with college and everything, but I was able to flip it in a year and that let me bring Miss Swiss to life. “

What do the next 5 years look like for Miss Swiss?

“We have a bunch of different ideas. We’re working on a smaller size to fit travel size makeup, were also looking at putting an eye shadow/bronzer pan for those worried about eyeshadow spilling or getting crushed. The opportunities are endless for us right now. We’re really excited. We’re trying to solve all the problems everyone is having with trying to do their makeup on the go.”

What products do you dabble with?

“I’ve always been a huge supporter of the Kylie Lip Kits, I remember taking summer classes in college with my friends and counting down the days to be the first ones to purchase. Kylie Jenner is a huge inspiration for me. I’ve always loved Urban Decay too. They’re my go-to products since I started wearing makeup, and recently I have gotten into Tarte. I love their Shape Tape. It’s a must-have. I made sure that product fits in the Miss Swiss Case.”

What does your everyday makeup routine look like?

“Right now, everyone is using fewer lip products because of face masks. For right now I’m using a tinted moisturizer because my foundation was getting everywhere inside my mask. I keep my routine simple. Lip balm on my lips, winged liner, and then some mascara and a little bit of sparkly eyeshadow. Super simple for right now. If you were to ask me what my routine was in 2019 it would’ve been completely different!”

Winter skincare routine?

“I focus on moisturizing during the winter. I’m a big drunk elephant fan. I love everything from them. I’ve been doing weekly facemasks as well. Kate Sommerville spot treatment as well since face coverings have made me more prone to breakouts.”
