Dabble Do’s and Don’ts- Spring / Summer 2018

1.       CBD Beauty

Our BD team is fond of the term “Try once and Try Forever”. This is true of only quality products, which stand the test of time. Cannabliss Organic Skincare is that brand. 2.    Serum

A good serum is always the right investment, many on the market, many do not work. We dabbled into Dior’s 2018 Capture Youth, antioxidant youth protocol, geared to fight signs of aging immediately.  The skin care line has one antioxidant creme and five serums that complement the Creme to address the needs of every type of skin. Their 6 products, three ways to use them is genius and tested true by our BD team, check it out here.

Do Dabble- with the Lift Sculptor, wrinkles are reduced by 25%. Rich in naturally-derived polyphenols from a blend of green, white and rooibos teas, this serum combats a lack of skin tone and elasticity. Enriched with antioxidant Iris extract and composed of 92%* natural-origin ingredients, this serum offers an instant tightening effect. $95.00

3.  Sheets

For years it has been about face sheets, Korean beauty this and K beauty that, we learned about what actually some of the face sheets are made with, and no thanks! We can do away without snail slime, and fake good for you goo on our face for minutes. We would rather use Ouai Anti Frizz Sheets. These purse-portable frizz defying sheets are your new secret weapon to fight frizzy, static-prone hair. A few swipes and hair is left shiny, smooth and free from flyways. Genius! These suckers have Hemp Paper, Coconut Oil, and Shea Butter in one little sheet. Fine by us.

Do Dabble: with these Anti Frizz Sheets for $18.00, but also Ouai’s Air Dry Foam is here to revolutionize your air dry. Our innovative wash & wear formula enhances and encourages your natural wave patterns for more consistency, softens strands, fights frizz and adds definition. Oh, and it’s infused with Kale Extract for touchable texture that lasts. $28.00

4. Sun Screen

These days we need to triple up on our beauty protection, these Sun Rays aren’t getting less strong as we think we are staying younger. BD declares you must know your sun care. This may be more important than your moisture regimen. But what is the do and don’t to skin care? We say know what fool proof is, what is a staple, what has stood the test of time- Lotion! I mean there are drops, foams, sprays, and mousse for crying out loud. What works for you is fine. For us, we trust Shiseido’s Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion WetForce SPF 50+ is not your average sunblock. For all skin types, this powerful sun protection, come in a comfortable lotion formula that turns invisible on any skin tone. Invisible! What! Shiseido’s sun care system has a WetForce technology, which provides the skin a protective veil that becomes stronger as it comes into contact with water or perspiration. These J-Beauty leaders understand skin care, as this block is ideal for outdoor activities and sports, it provides high sun protection, and can be used on the face and body. As if that is not enough, it is water resistance for 80 minutes. Sold! $44.00

Do Dabble- with Shiseido’s sun care Clear Stick UV Protector WetForce SPF 50+. A clear stick sunscreen that applies easily to the skin for sun protection on-the-go and can be used over and under makeup. $28.00

5.    Lips

According to many beauty experts, 2018 is all about the gloss and shimmers this year. Why? Because it is lighter, less fuss, and makes all these filler or mechanically enhanced lips look healthy. Many brands are pushing slick lips. Here are a few we tested and tout for a perfect pout; Pat Mcgrath glosses are bold, Tom Ford’s are luxurious, and NYX Butter Glosses are staples.

Don’t Dabble- in matte lip kit sets. Just like anything, there are beauty fads that come in, come out, and repeat. For this spring we are over the obligatory Kylie Lip Kit Look. First of all, it is super harsh on your lips, and the chalk look is done. Bye.

6. Hair Color

Do it. As the seasons change, so will our hair color. It is a serious “Dabble Do” to be tight with your hair professional. Learn from their knowledge it will save you thousands of strands. So, this spring we are recommending two color trends that may not fade until the new year. First, Rose Gold! Think a mixture of light pink hues infused into blonde hair. Allure shows us a carousel of celebs who are rocking it right. Our favorite, the peach rose color, Paris Jackson rocked at Coachella by Riawna Capri with Joico LumShine, Blonde Life, and Color Intensity hair color. Second, Ombre always. The brunette to blonde can make unicorn hair, sun kiss streaks, and drastic work with the Ombre way.

Don’t Dabble – in full color transformations alone. Do not try and be your own colorist, unless of course you have the certification. It is always best to visit your hair pro to get these life changing beautifications done. If you must dabble, try color butters, root touch ups, and foams to hold you over until you get to the salon.

7.  Style

There is just so much out there, it is nearly impossible to say what is a style do for Spring / Summer 2018. Therefore, we will mention one styling product and one tool for 2018’s trend, which is Short Hair. In a Harper’s Bazaar article about hair style trends for Spring/Summer 2018, we noticed that short is a must. Short hair could always use a beach spray, The Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray adds volume, texture and hold for matte, beachy waves.

Don’t Dabble- In extensions for Style that are not fitting to your new short style. The worst is taking a great short bob, blunt cut, or lob and adding extensions that do not match the cut. If this is an absolute must, consult with your stylist on how to apply extensions if you are not loving your short look that way they fit and sit properly.

8. Beauty Box

What beauty brand doesn’t have a box? Birchbox, BeautyFix, GlossyBox, to even Julep who has monthly beauty boxes. However, dabbling in a box you know that you love, and works is the way to go. You see when you sign up to get these boxes monthly, you are not sure what you are going to get. Pay a few hundred dollars and throw the sample sizes of product you have no idea how to use in the trash- what a waste. We recommend choosing a beauty brand who offers a box that presents financial deals, product size worth the splurge, and a brand that you know helps produce results. This Spring/ Summer we recommend, new comer, RDKL Skincare Complete Care set. This box set has it all, botanical and paraben free products most effective for that every day skin care routine. Invest in healthier, age-defying skin with five steps fueled with vitamins and active botanicals. This box has full sizes of; RDKL™ LIFE Serum, RDKL™ YOUTH Toner, RDKL™ REVIVE Moisturizer, RDKL™ FRESH Gel Cleanser, and RDKL™ GLOW Facial Oil all for $99.00. What a steal.

Don’t Dabble in beauty boxes with sample sizes. This is a true waste. If you are in the business of finding new beauty products on the monthly regular, then we advise making a monthly habit visiting to Sephora for sample requests from your Sephora specialist. At least with this you know what sample you are trying, considering, and interested in. Otherwise, the box with sample sizes of items you have no clue what you are getting is an absolute waste. Pass.
